Simple Beginning Breathing Meditation
"When you own your breath, nobody can steal your peace."
This is a simple breathing meditation you can practice anywhere at anytime, for any length of time. Regulating your breath in this way allows the heart rate to slow, your muscles to relax, and your mind to settle.
10 Count Inhale / 10 Count Exhale
- Lengthen and slow the inhale and exhale to the count of 10.
- Observe a tiny pause at the top or your inhale and then exhale.
- Repeat. If you loose count, simply begin again and know that it is not failure or an inability of any kind. Counting to 10 is easy, staying with your breath in kindness is the practice.
- If a 10 count seems out of reach begin with whatever number seems accessible without struggle and work your way up.
