14 years ago I stepped on to a yoga mat in my best friend's living room for the very first time because she made me. 2 weeks later, after I learned sun salutations in that same living room, I went to my first yoga class. It was, at that time, the hardest thing I had ever done in my life, but I kept going every week in spite of the sore muscles and humble pie that were constantly served up. It provided a chance for me and my friend to do something other than hang out at a bar and talk about boys.
Two years later my friend passed away in a car accident. It took me two more years, and many tearful attempts, to get back on my mat and begin the healing process. I mended more than I knew I could and found an openness and lightness I never thought possible.
Since then, my practice has shifted significantly from a fast paced vinysasa, get as sweaty as you can style practice into something that better compliments my busy life and has helped me to navigate my life with more gracefulness and ease...yin + meditation. This practice has helped me, and so many others, tap into creativity, cope with stress, understand others and operate with greater efficiency in everything I do.
My history has led me to this path of teaching and sharing and I couldn't be more stoked to wake up in the morning and do what I do.
